Your money stays in your browser
The short version: Months Ahead has no backend, so there is nowhere for your data to go. This page explains exactly what that means.
What we collect
Nothing. There is no account to create, no email to give, and no server to send anything to. Months Ahead is a static website plus code that runs entirely in your browser. We have no database and no logs of your activity.
Where your numbers live
The accounts, recurring items, events and settings you enter are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. They are not transmitted anywhere. If you clear your browser data, use a different device, or use private browsing, that data won't follow you — which is also why we give you a JSON export to keep your own backup.
Bank statements
When you import a CSV, the file is read and parsed in your browser. It is never uploaded. Recurring-pattern detection is plain, deterministic code — there is no AI service and no network request involved in reading your statement.
Analytics, ads and trackers
No advertising, no tracking pixels, no cookies for profiling, and no cross-site tracking. We do use privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) to count anonymous, aggregate visits — page views, rough location at country level, referrer and device type — so we can see whether the tool is useful enough to keep improving.
This measurement is strictly anonymous and never sees your financial figures. Your accounts, recurring items, events and amounts live only in your browser and are never sent anywhere. We also record a couple of anonymous action counts — for example, that someone imported a CSV or edited a forecast — but these carry only the fact that the action happened, never any amounts, labels, or statement contents.
Hosting
The site is served as static files from a content delivery network. Standard, short-lived server request logs (for example, the IP address making a request) may be processed by the host to deliver the site and guard against abuse, as with any website. Those logs never contain the contents of your forecast, because your forecast is never sent.
Your control
- Export a JSON backup whenever you like, from the menu in the app.
- Restore from a backup to move between devices.
- Use “Clear everything” to wipe the stored model, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
